AFD Reaffirms Strong Partnership with Côte d’Ivoire and Future Development Projects

Following a meeting granted by the Prime Minister, Head of Government, Robert Beugré Mambé, the Chief Executive Officer of the Agence Française de Développement, Rémy Rioux, expressed on Wednesday, April 1, 2026, in Abidjan, his appreciation and pride in the outcomes of his institution’s cooperation with Côte d’Ivoire. He also indicated his intention to further strengthen the partnership in financing and supporting the country’s development.

“We reviewed the implementation of the C2D. (…) We are very proud to have contributed, given the results achieved and the progress made over the past 10 to 15 years. It is a feeling of gratitude and pride that we share as we come to the end of our tenure at the head of AFD,” said the CEO.

Rémy Rioux added that the French Development Agency and Côte d’Ivoire also discussed future prospects beyond the C2D, particularly sovereign loans, which have resumed strongly over the past decade. He revealed that several projects are currently being prepared for the coming years. “Cooperation is continuing and deepening in a spirit of fraternity and friendship, serving Côte d’Ivoire and benefiting the entire sub-region, given the country’s role and influence among its neighbors,” he assured.

In Côte d’Ivoire, the Agence Française de Développement Group deploys both financial and non-financial instruments, supporting numerous development projects in sectors such as agriculture and food security, biodiversity, urban development, water and sanitation, energy, infrastructure, justice, social sectors (education and health), as well as cultural and creative industries and sports.

The Agence Française de Développement is a public financial institution that acts as the central operator of France’s development cooperation policy, combining the roles of a development bank and an implementing agency for sustainable and inclusive investment policies.
