Anti-Corruption: Under Zoro Bi Ballo’s Leadership, the Good Governance Academy Becomes a Strategic Transformation Lever

The 2026 solemn opening ceremony of the Academy of Good Governance and Anti-Corruption Leadership (ABG-LAC) was held on Monday, April 20, 2026, at the Félix Houphouët-Boigny Foundation for Peace Research in Yamoussoukro, in the presence of high-level authorities, public and private sector stakeholders, as well as technical and financial partners.

Placed under the chairmanship of the Minister of State Assets and Public Enterprises, Mariatou Koné, and under the patronage of the President of the General Confederation of Enterprises of Côte d’Ivoire (CGECI), Ahmed Cissé, the ceremony officially marked the opening of the 2026 academic year of ABG-LAC.

It also launched a training session dedicated to anti-corruption compliance, bringing together around fifty managers from public and private enterprises to strengthen their skills and adopt international governance standards.

At the heart of this initiative, the President of the High Authority for Good Governance (HABG), Épiphane Zoro Bi Ballo, whose leadership enabled the creation and rollout of the Academy, reaffirmed the ambition to establish it as a sub-regional center of excellence. Through ABG-LAC, he promotes a clear vision: sustainably transforming governance practices through training, prevention, and the development of a strong integrity culture.

In his address, he emphasized that education and training are essential levers to significantly reduce corruption risks and improve the performance of both public and private organizations. The Academy is thus positioned as a strategic platform for capacity building and the dissemination of international governance standards.

Presiding over the ceremony, Minister Mariatou Koné highlighted the significant progress made in public enterprise governance, noting improved performance in recent years. She called for a new phase based on stronger transparency, accountability, and sustainable performance, while stressing the central role of human capital.

She also underscored that the Academy is a key tool in supporting this transformation by contributing to professionalization, the adoption of international standards, and the embedding of a culture of integrity across organizations.

The 2026 academic year follows the 2025 edition chaired by the Vice-President of the Republic, Tiémoko Meyliet Koné, confirming the Ivorian authorities’ ambition to position Côte d’Ivoire as a sub-regional benchmark in good governance by 2030.

Through the Academy of Good Governance and Anti-Corruption Leadership, the High Authority for Good Governance is strengthening its role as a catalyst for transformation, bringing together public and private actors around a shared goal: building more ethical, efficient, and resilient institutions.
