Arts and Culture: Françoise Remarck Establishes a Consultative Council Composed of Sector Icons

The Minister of Culture and Francophonie, Françoise Remarck, chaired the official launch of her ministry’s Consultative Council on Wednesday, April 22, 2026, at her office in Abidjan-Plateau. The council is made up of leading figures from the arts and culture sector.

“All these personalities were selected based on what they have contributed and continue to contribute to the cultural history of our country. Our culture is rich and lies at the heart of the vision of the President of the Republic, Alassane Ouattara. To implement this vision—making culture a key driver of social cohesion, creativity, and youth employability—it was essential to be surrounded by those who have lived this history, those who continue to pass it on, and who do so with great dedication,” explained Françoise Remarck.

She added: “Given the challenges we face today—including artificial intelligence, the professionalization of the sector, youth employability, decent incomes, and the status of artists—it is crucial to rely on these icons and major cultural figures who are still actively contributing to the story of Côte d’Ivoire. Their experience and insights will help guide us in implementing the cultural policy envisioned by the President.”

According to the Minister, their contributions are expected to help position Côte d’Ivoire as a cultural leader in Africa and globally.

The Consultative Council includes prominent figures such as Noël Douret, Eddy-Njock Nicole épse Gnépo (Wêrê-Wêrê Liking), Néba Bienvenu, Antoinette Konan, Tiburce Koffi, N’Doumi Djabo Steck, Ouédraogo Pathé (Pathé’O), Isabelle Kassi Fofana, Yacouba Konaté, and Youssouf Djira.
