Abidjan, June 15, 2026 – The Minister of National Education, Literacy, and Technical Education, N’Guessan Koffi, officially launched the 2026 Baccalaureate written examinations on Monday at the Hamed Bakayoko High School in Abobo PK 18 (Abidjan).
A total of 329,372 candidates are sitting for the exam across 549 examination centers nationwide. This includes 25,150 candidates for the technical Baccalaureate, 597 for the artistic Baccalaureate, and 303,625 for the general Baccalaureate.
The launch ceremony took place in the presence of the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Adama Diawara; the Minister of Culture and Francophonie, Françoise Remarck; and the Minister Delegate in charge of Technical Education, Jean-Louis Moulot.
According to Minister N’Guessan Koffi, girls represent 51% of the candidates, and the results are expected on July 6.
“We are here today on behalf of the government to encourage the candidates, but also to congratulate teachers, school heads, and all stakeholders in the education system, because the 2025–2026 school year went smoothly. There is no reason why candidates who have attended all their classes should not obtain their diploma,” he stated.
He also called on examination supervisors and jury members to ensure the integrity of the process: “I urge all jury presidents and their teams to ensure that this exam is not tainted by fraud and that everything runs smoothly. Parents can be reassured that all measures have been taken for the candidates to sit the exams in good conditions. We must trust the Ivorian education system.”
He added: “The President of the Republic, Alassane Ouattara, has made significant efforts to improve the education and training system. We must ensure that all stakeholders work in this direction so that our education system ranks among the best on the continent.”
After Abobo, the ministerial delegation visited the technical and classical high schools in Abidjan. At the Emmanuel Dioulo school group in Plateau, where 71 candidates with special needs are taking the exams, the ministers observed the smooth conduct of the examinations.
