Côte d'Ivoire is moving forward with three public-private partnership (PPP) energy projects expected to add 735 megawatts (MW) of additional electricity generation capacity, as the government seeks to strengthen energy security and support economic growth. The projects are part of a broader strategy to expand electricity production, modernize infrastructure and meet rising demand from households and industries.

The new capacity additions are expected to help reinforce the country’s power supply while supporting the development of a more diversified energy mix. Côte d'Ivoire has in recent years accelerated investments in thermal, renewable and gas-related energy projects, positioning itself as a regional electricity hub in West Africa. The government is also working to expand cross-border electricity exchanges within the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) region through improved infrastructure and stronger grid connectivity.
