Côte d'Ivoire has awarded three new gold exploration permits to two mining companies as part of its strategy to accelerate mineral exploration and strengthen the country's mining sector, the government announced following the Council of Ministers meeting on August 5. The four-year permits were granted to KOFAMEX International SARL, which received two exploration licenses in the departments of Mankono and Bouaké, and West Africa Mineral Resources Côte d'Ivoire SARL, which was awarded a permit covering the departments of Daoukro and M'Bahiakro.

The government said the move is aimed at boosting exploration activities, attracting further private investment, and increasing the likelihood of new gold discoveries. Côte d'Ivoire, which has emerged as one of West Africa's leading gold producers in recent years, is seeking to expand its mining industry as part of broader efforts to diversify the economy, increase export revenues, and strengthen the sector's contribution to economic growth. The permits were issued in accordance with the country's Mining Code and applicable technical, environmental, and social standards.
