Ivorians living abroad can now complete procedures to obtain their National Identity Card (CNI) through several Ivorian diplomatic and consular missions.

The National Office for Civil Status and Identification (ONECI) said the system allows members of the Ivorian diaspora to visit authorized embassies and consulates to complete the necessary procedures for obtaining their CNI.

The service is currently available in 13 countries: France, the United Kingdom, Italy, Germany, Spain, Ghana, Senegal, Morocco, Tunisia, Canada, the Republic of the Congo, Belgium and South Africa.

In France, applications can notably be processed at the Consulate General in Paris and the Consulate General in Lyon. In Italy, the service is available at the Ivorian Embassy and the Consulate General in Milan.

In the other countries concerned, applications can be submitted through authorized Ivorian embassies.

The initiative is aimed at bringing identification services closer to Ivorian nationals living abroad and facilitating their access to essential administrative documents, without systematically requiring them to travel to Côte d’Ivoire.

ONECI, which oversees the country’s national identification and civil registration policy, is continuing to expand and digitize its services for Ivorians living outside the country.

For the Ivorian diaspora, the opening of these service points represents a step forward in accessing administrative procedures and strengthening ties between citizens living abroad and their country of origin.

“Wherever you are, ONECI is coming closer to you,” the agency said in its communication.
