Receiving the 2025 Statistical Yearbook of the Ministry of Women, Family and Children on May 6, 2026, at Sofitel Abidjan Hôtel Ivoire, Prime Minister Robert Beugré Mambé praised the progress made by Côte d’Ivoire in gender equality, women’s empowerment, family protection and children’s rights.
According to the Prime Minister, in 2025, child victims of rape received care and support. A total of 6,926 children who were victims of violence, neglect, exploitation or harmful traditional practices were identified and assisted, while more than 384,000 people were reached through awareness campaigns. In addition, 75 gender units are now operational across the country and 3,100 families received support for their economic empowerment.
Mambé said the yearbook reflects the vision of President Alassane Ouattara, whose policies and programs aim to improve the living conditions of the population. He also thanked technical and financial partners for their continued support and called for increased assistance aligned with the priorities highlighted in the report.
Addressing women, children and families directly, the Prime Minister said the Côte d’Ivoire being built under President Ouattara is “a country where every woman is protected in her dignity, every child grows up safely and every family has the means to thrive.”
Women, Family and Children Minister Nassénéba Touré stated that since 2021, her ministry has committed to regularly producing and publishing sectoral statistics through an annual statistical yearbook. She stressed that each figure represents “a life, a family and a reality that must be transformed.”
Touré also recalled that Côte d’Ivoire currently ranks first in West Africa for gender equality, with a score of 0.708 in the 2024 ECOWAS Gender Equality Index report.
Hélène N'Garnim-Ganga, the United Nations Resident Coordinator in Côte d’Ivoire, welcomed the publication and reaffirmed the support of the UN system to the country.
A panel discussion on data relating to women, families and children in Côte d’Ivoire concluded the ceremony.
