On Monday, March 30, 2026, in Abidjan-Plateau, the Minister of Economy, Finance and Budget, Adama Coulibaly, and the Deputy Director-General for International Partnerships at the European Commission, Myriam Ferran, signed two financing agreements named MAMBO and ATINORD, with a total value of 67 billion CFA francs.
The MAMBO project focuses on urban mobility and the development of Bouaké, the country’s second-largest city. The ATINORD project is an integrated development initiative in northern Côte d’Ivoire, aimed at directly supporting local populations and fostering socio-economic development in the region.
According to Adama Coulibaly, these European Union-funded initiatives will complement ongoing government efforts to improve mobility in Bouaké and enhance socio-economic development in the northern regions. He emphasized that the projects will be implemented locally to support targeted communities and ensure tangible impact.
He also reassured European partners, including the Agence française de Développement and the European Investment Bank, of the government’s commitment to ensuring the efficient use of the allocated funds, with results to be transparently evaluated and shared with the public.
For her part, Myriam Ferran highlighted that the MAMBO project will significantly improve the well-being of Bouaké’s residents by enhancing mobility, public transport systems, sanitation, and infrastructure. She added that the ATINORD project also contributes to security by supporting integrated development in the northern regions, thereby helping to prevent terrorism and violence.
She described both initiatives as emblematic, as they are being implemented through coordinated efforts by multiple European Union partners.
The signing ceremony was attended by the EU Ambassador to Côte d’Ivoire, Irchad Azaaly.
