With the aim of contributing to the sustainable development of Côte d’Ivoire’s education system through the modernization of infrastructure and the promotion of academic excellence, a two-year renewable framework partnership agreement was signed on Thursday, April 9, 2026, in Abidjan-Plateau between the Ministry of National Education, Literacy and Technical Education and Côte d’Ivoire Terminal (CIT), a major sub-regional trade actor and leading port operator.
The agreement was signed by the Ministry’s Chief of Staff, Moustapha Sangaré, and the CEO of CIT, Koen De Backker, under the supervision of the Minister of National Education and Technical Education, N’Guessan Koffi. It is based on five key pillars: the rehabilitation and construction of school infrastructure, the provision of educational equipment and teaching materials, support for cultural and sports activities, sponsorship and assistance for school clubs, and the promotion of excellence through the creation of an award aimed at recognizing the most outstanding students.
Speaking on behalf of the Ivorian government, Minister N’Guessan Koffi expressed his gratitude to CIT for its support. He emphasized that education remains the foundation of societal transformation and called on companies to support government efforts in building a more efficient, inclusive, and competitive education system aligned with both national and international standards.
For his part, the CEO of Côte d’Ivoire Terminal, Koen De Backker, expressed his pride in contributing as a corporate citizen to the improvement of access to education in Côte d’Ivoire. He stated that through this agreement, CIT reaffirms its commitment to providing concrete and structured support to the education sector, highlighting that education is the most powerful tool for ensuring equal opportunities and preparing future talent for the country’s development.
