Côte d’Ivoire and Ghana Boost Technical Education Cooperation

Côte d’Ivoire has strengthened its cooperation with Ghana in technical and vocational education through the signing of two amendments to existing partnership agreements aimed at expanding training and professional integration opportunities for Ivorian students.

The ceremony, chaired in Abidjan by the Minister of National Education, Literacy and Technical Education, N’Guessan Koffi, was held in the presence of the Ambassador of Ghana to Côte d’Ivoire, Alhassan Abu.

The agreements were signed between the Ivorian ministry and two Ghanaian institutions: the Nduom School of Business and Technology (NSBT) and Accra Technical University. They aim to increase the intake of Ivorian students from technical and vocational high schools, general education graduates with technical or scientific baccalaureates, as well as holders of technical certificates in industrial and hospitality fields.

The partnership also provides for apprenticeship and professional training programmes in Ghanaian companies, enabling Ivorian learners to gain practical work experience in industrial and hospitality sectors.

According to Minister N’Guessan Koffi, the initiative reflects Côte d’Ivoire’s policy of international openness led by President Alassane Ouattara and seeks to improve youth employability.

“These agreements are beneficial for the youth of both countries,” he said, stressing their importance in strengthening technical education and training in Côte d’Ivoire.

NSBT was represented at the ceremony by its Rector, Professor Daniel Nyarko, while Accra Technical University was represented by its Vice-Chancellor, Acakpovi Amevi. The Ivorian Ministry was represented by Cabinet Director Sangaré Moustapha, who signed the documents on behalf of the government.
