Ivorian Minister Bruno Nabagné Koné met on Tuesday with a delegation from the American Jewish Committee (AJC), led by Israel’s Ambassador to Côte d’Ivoire, Simon Seroussi, to discuss ways to strengthen the country’s agricultural sector.
Talks focused on boosting agricultural development through innovation and international cooperation. The AJC announced plans to host an “AGRI-TECH” summit in Abidjan in October, aimed at promoting technological solutions to improve productivity and attract investment into agriculture.
Bruno Nabagné Koné welcomed the initiative and gave preliminary approval for the event, describing it as a strategic opportunity to accelerate the transformation of Côte d’Ivoire’s agricultural sector.
During the meeting, the minister outlined the government’s priorities, which include strengthening agricultural value chains, expanding food crop production, and reinforcing food sovereignty amid growing global market pressures.
He also called on the American Jewish Committee to leverage its international network to better promote Ivorian cocoa on global markets, with the aim of improving incomes for local producers.
The meeting reflects Côte d’Ivoire’s broader push to deepen international partnerships as it seeks to modernize its agriculture and build resilience against economic and climate-related challenges.
