Côte d’Ivoire will take part in the seventh World Telecommunication/ICT Policy Forum (WTPF-26), scheduled for September 2–4, 2026, in Nassau, The Bahamas.

The Ivorian delegation will use the high-level international meeting to promote the country’s bid for a seat on the Council of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU).

According to Abidjan.net, Côte d’Ivoire will hold discussions with ITU member states and international partners to present the priorities behind its candidacy. These include expanding digital inclusion, supporting technological innovation, increasing young people’s access to opportunities in the digital sector and narrowing the digital divide.

The campaign comes as governments, technology companies, academics and international experts gather in Nassau to discuss the future of telecommunications and digital technologies.

The official WTPF-26 agenda focuses on five major issues: bridging digital divides, green digital transformation, the resilience of telecommunications and ICT systems, space connectivity, and innovation ecosystems.

For Abidjan, the forum represents more than a policy meeting. It provides an opportunity to strengthen Côte d’Ivoire’s position in global digital governance and build support for its return to the ITU Council.

A seat on the Council would give Côte d’Ivoire a stronger voice in international discussions and decisions shaping the future of telecommunications and digital technologies.

The WTPF-26 will be held at Atlantis Paradise Island in Nassau, with a Strategic Dialogue taking place on September 1 ahead of the main forum.

As Côte d’Ivoire seeks to deepen its digital transformation, the Nassau meeting will be another step in its efforts to secure a greater role in shaping Africa’s and the world’s digital future.
