The national team, nicknamed the “Mathematician Elephants,” won a total of five medals: three gold and two bronze, thus confirming the scientific potential of Ivorian youth.

The gold medals were awarded to Kouiemedo Ange Modeste and Ekue Kouassi Noah Kevin from Lycée d’excellence Alassane Ouattara in Grand-Bassam, and Yao Kouamé Christ Elfried Carlos from Lycée Scientifique de Yamoussoukro.

The bronze medals went to Traoré Catier Saly from Lycée Jeunes Filles de Bouaké, and Ali Faicoth from Lycée Sainte-Marie de Cocody.

The team was coached by Koné Brahima and N’Dré Valéry, teachers and trainers, under the coordination of the Société mathématique de Côte d’Ivoire (SMCI), in partnership with the Compagnie ivoirienne d’électricité (CIE). The training sessions took place at the Centre des métiers de l’électricité in Bingerville, a true center of excellence for preparing for these olympiads.

The overall ranking for this 2025 edition places South Africa at the top, followed by Tunisia, then Côte d’Ivoire, ahead of Senegal.

These results demonstrate Côte d’Ivoire’s growing commitment to promoting the sciences, through the identification, support, and recognition of young talents.

The Ivorian delegation was welcomed at the University of Gaborone, where it proudly represented the country against the continent’s best teams.

Educational authorities, partners, and the entire national scientific community have praised the performance of these young people who embody the future of research and innovation in Africa.
