The gambling and sports betting industry in Côte d’Ivoire generated an estimated 922.3 billion CFA francs in revenue in 2025, equivalent to an average of around 2.5 billion CFA francs per day, according to figures reported by the country's gambling regulator.
The market has recorded strong growth in recent years. Revenue rose from 586.9 billion CFA francs in 2023 to 705.9 billion in 2024, before reaching 922.3 billion in 2025.
The expansion reflects the growing presence of lottery games, sports betting and other forms of gambling, particularly through digital platforms.
The national lottery operator, LONACI, reported revenue of 657.6 billion CFA francs in 2025, up from 579.3 billion the previous year. In the sports betting segment, Betclic Côte d’Ivoire reported revenue of 75.03 billion CFA francs.
The rapid growth of the sector has also increased regulatory concerns. Authorities are seeking to strengthen oversight, combat illegal gambling operations and improve the monitoring of online betting platforms.
In April 2026, the government announced the creation of a surveillance and enforcement unit tasked with monitoring the sector and addressing illegal activities.
Between 2022 and the first half of 2026, authorities reportedly destroyed 312 illegal slot machines and blocked 55 unauthorised online sports betting platforms.
The figures highlight the growing economic importance of gambling in Côte d’Ivoire, while raising questions about regulation, consumer protection and the risks associated with the rapid expansion of betting activities.
The daily figure of 2.5 billion CFA francs represents an average based on the sector’s reported annual revenue, rather than a verified daily total of individual bets.
