Côte d’Ivoire: 300 Young Volunteers Deployed for MASA 2026

The National Civic Service Office (OSCN) has made 300 young volunteers available to the Abidjan Performing Arts Market (MASA), following a protocol agreement signed on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, between the two institutions. The initiative aims to contribute to the success of the 2026 edition.

The Director General of MASA, Abou Kamate, welcomed what he described as a “decisive” partnership for the success of the event, scheduled to take place from April 11 to 18, 2026, in Abidjan, featuring more than 300 activities and performances.

He noted that the volunteers will be assigned across several committees, including reception, transport, catering, logistics, and assistance to artists and officials. “There is no committee closed to this youth. We want them to fully immerse themselves in the organizational scope of MASA,” he stated.

Mr. Kamate also emphasized the strategic role of the volunteers, describing them as “ambassadors” of Côte d’Ivoire, given their direct interaction with international guests. He believes their commitment will help project a positive image of the country through quality hospitality.

For his part, the Director General of OSCN, Amara Coulibaly, indicated that the young volunteers will be deployed in administrative and logistical roles to support the organization of this major international cultural event.

“Our goal is to provide engaged and responsible young people, some of whom will be experiencing the cultural sector for the first time,” he explained.

He added that the selection of volunteers followed a call for applications that attracted thousands of candidates. The main criteria included holding at least a BEPC certificate and being available. “Volunteering прежде requires time and commitment,” he stressed, noting that the initiative represents an opportunity for skills development and professional integration for young people.

The 14th edition of MASA will be held from April 11 to 18, 2026, in Abidjan. The event aims to strengthen the capacities of African performing arts professionals and promote access for African productions to international markets.
