Côte d’Ivoire: ENSA’s 60th Anniversary Highlights Agricultural Excellence and Youth Employment

On the occasion of the 60th anniversary celebration of the National Higher School of Agronomy of Côte d’Ivoire (ENSA), held on May 5, 2026, in Abidjan, the Minister for Youth Promotion, Professional Integration and Civic Service, Mamadou Touré, stated that ENSA’s 60 years symbolize resilience and national pride, given the outstanding performance of Ivorian agriculture.

“The institution is celebrating its diamond jubilee, a symbol of longevity, resilience, but above all national pride, considering the exceptional performance of our agriculture, recognized worldwide,” he emphasized.

Representing the Vice Prime Minister at the ceremony, the Minister noted that the creation of this “sanctuary” — ENSA — which brings together all the necessary conditions for learning, reflects the vision of President Félix Houphouët-Boigny to build Côte d’Ivoire’s development framework around a strong and prosperous agricultural sector.

Mamadou Touré also praised the Association of Agronomist Engineers of Côte d’Ivoire for selecting the theme of the celebration: “Agronomic training as a lever for youth employability and women’s entrepreneurship in Côte d’Ivoire.” According to him, this theme aligns with the structural and sectoral reforms implemented since 2011, as well as investments that have positioned the country among the most dynamic economies on the continent.

However, he stressed that efforts must continue to ensure sustainable food production for ever-growing populations. He therefore urged engineers to contribute to ongoing reflections aimed at assessing the current situation. “The identified actions must continue to make Ivorian agriculture attractive to our youth and ensure it a future as bright as that of the Ivorian economic miracle era,” he concluded.
