The University Hospital Center (CHU) of Bouaké has reached a major milestone in improving its healthcare services by successfully carrying out major neurosurgical procedures for the first time.
The Neurosurgery Department, led by Professor Haidara Aderehime, successfully performed two high-complexity operations: the removal of a brain tumor on Tuesday, April 7, followed by the treatment of a complex craniovertebral junction fracture on Friday, April 10, 2026.
These procedures, made possible through the strengthening of the hospital’s technical platform driven by the institution’s management, represent a significant breakthrough in the treatment of neurosurgical conditions in Bouaké. These specialized surgeries can now be performed locally, reducing the need for medical evacuations to other healthcare facilities.
This first achievement in neurosurgery at CHU Bouaké highlights the expertise of the medical teams and reflects an ongoing modernization effort aimed at providing high-quality, accessible, and local specialized care to the population.
