French shipping giant CMA CGM has officially announced the establishment of its Africa regional office in Abidjan, marking a significant step in strengthening the country’s position as a key logistics hub in West Africa.
The announcement was made during an official ceremony held at the Sofitel Hôtel Ivoire, attended by the Minister of Communication and government spokesperson Amadou Coulibaly, the Minister of Transport, and the company’s Chairman and CEO Rodolphe Saadé.
Ivorian authorities said the move reflects growing confidence from international investors in the country’s economic stability and business environment under President Alassane Ouattara.
The new regional office is expected to strengthen CMA CGM’s operations across Africa while reinforcing Abidjan’s role as a strategic center for maritime transport and logistics in the region.
The decision comes amid increasing competition among African cities to attract global investment in trade and infrastructure. Officials believe the project could create economic opportunities and support job creation.
