China and Côte d’Ivoire Sign CFA 24 Billion Cooperation Agreements for 2024–2025

The People’s Republic of China and the Republic of Côte d’Ivoire have signed two cooperation agreements with a total value of 24 billion CFA francs, covering the years 2024 and 2025. The agreements were signed by the Minister of State, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Kaba Nialé, and the Chinese Ambassador to Côte d’Ivoire, Wu Jie, on Thursday, February 5, 2026, in Abidjan-Plateau.

The funds are intended to finance projects agreed upon by the two governments, aimed at improving the living conditions of the Ivorian population. As a product of friendship and mutual consensus, the development cooperation agreements reflect the strong attention and sincere support that the Chinese side gives to Côte d’Ivoire’s socio-economic development needs. The grant of 300 million RMB yuan will provide a solid guarantee for the planning and implementation of development projects, while strengthening the country’s sustainable development capacities.

“I welcome the signing of these two cooperation agreements through which your country provides Côte d’Ivoire, for the years 2024 and 2025, with significant financial support without any conditions, amounting to a total of three hundred million (300,000,000) Renminbi yuan, or approximately twenty-four billion CFA francs,” said Kaba Nialé.

According to the Minister of State, far from being a simple diplomatic formality, this signing clearly demonstrates the strength of the friendly and cooperative relations between the Republic of Côte d’Ivoire and the People’s Republic of China. She took the opportunity to commend the quality of these relations, as well as the prospects for strengthened cooperation in several sectors considered priorities by both governments.

For his part, Chinese diplomat Wu Jie stated that the signing of these two agreements represents not only the result of pragmatic cooperation between the two countries, but also a new starting point for the future. “The Chinese side is ready to work with the Ivorian side, in line with the consensus reached by our two Heads of State, and on the basis of mutual respect, equality and shared benefits, to expand areas of cooperation and innovate cooperation models, promote synergy between the development strategies of both countries, with the aim of implementing the outcomes of the Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation, and contributing to Côte d’Ivoire’s National Development Plan 2026–2030,” he explained.

Confident that, thanks to the joint efforts of both parties, China and Côte d’Ivoire will welcome more projects benefiting the Chinese and Ivorian peoples, Ambassador Wu Jie wished continued success to the cooperation between the two countries.
