On Thursday, February 5, 2026, two development cooperation agreements were signed between the Government of the Republic of Côte d’Ivoire, represented by Her Excellency Madame Nialé KABA, State Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, and the People’s Republic of China, represented by His Excellency Mr. WI JIE, Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador.
The ceremony took place in the conference room of the State Minister’s office and was attended by His Excellency Mr. Adama DOSSO, Minister Delegate to the State Minister in charge of African Integration and Ivorians Abroad, as well as the Chinese diplomatic delegation.
The agreements provide financial support of 300 million Renminbi, approximately 24 billion CFA francs, to fund social projects benefiting the Ivorian population.
In her speech, Madame Nialé KABA welcomed the Chinese delegation and expressed her satisfaction at signing these agreements, the first since she took office. She emphasized that the agreements reflect the strong friendship and cooperation between Côte d’Ivoire and China.
She expressed appreciation for the financial support provided by the People’s Republic of China, granted without any conditions, to finance social projects aimed at improving the living conditions of the Ivorian population. On behalf of the President of the Republic, His Excellency Alassane Ouattara, and the Ivorian Government, she conveyed her deep gratitude to the Chinese side for its continued support of national development policies.
Speaking on behalf of China, Ambassador WI JIE praised the excellent bilateral relations between China and Côte d’Ivoire, based on long-standing and fruitful cooperation in several key sectors, including infrastructure, health, agriculture, transportation, and information and communication technologies. He reaffirmed his country’s commitment to supporting Côte d’Ivoire’s development priorities and emphasized that the signed agreements demonstrate China’s willingness to assist socio-economic development efforts and strengthen national capacities.
Finally, the Ambassador reiterated his country’s readiness to continue and deepen cooperation with Côte d’Ivoire, in accordance with the consensus established by the Heads of State of both countries, to support the implementation of national development priorities.
