Cross-Border Cooperation in West Africa: Abidjan Hosted Heads of Border Management Institutions

In a regional dynamic aimed at strengthening, harmonizing, and legitimizing governance mechanisms for cross-border areas in West Africa, Côte d’Ivoire’s economic capital hosted, from April 7 to April 10, 2026, the General Assembly of PECoGEF, the sub-regional border management platform bringing together representatives from the 15 West African countries.

The main objective of this meeting was to consolidate PECoGEF’s institutional framework through the validation of its revised statutes, the structuring of its governance mechanisms, and the adoption of a regional strategy for integrated border management and resource mobilization, in line with the priorities of the African Union in terms of peace, security, and territorial development.

The opening ceremony of the General Assembly took place on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, at the Silver Moon Hotel in Angré 7th Tranche.

The event was graced by the presence of Mr. Adama Dosso, Minister Delegate in charge of African Integration, who officially opened the proceedings and reaffirmed the commitment of the Ivorian government to supporting PECoGEF in the implementation of its roadmap.

For the record, following the annual meeting held in August 2025 in Cotonou, Prefect of High Rank Diakalidia Konaté, Executive Secretary of the CNFCI, had been appointed by his peers as Executive Secretary of PECoGEF.
