Director General of the French Gendarmerie on Working Visit to Côte d’Ivoire

The Director General of the Gendarmerie nationale française, General Hubert Bonneau, has been on a working visit to Côte d’Ivoire since February 11, 2026. The mission forms part of ongoing efforts to strengthen security cooperation between France and Côte d’Ivoire, two countries bound by longstanding defense and security ties.

During his stay, the French official held working sessions with his Ivorian counterpart, General Alexandre Apalo Touré, Commander of the Gendarmerie nationale. Discussions focused on enhancing operational capacity, specialized training, counterterrorism efforts, and judicial and technical cooperation.

The visit also included meetings with various units and departments of the Ivorian gendarmerie. General Bonneau praised the professionalism and progress made by the Ivorian forces, reaffirming the commitment to building a “win-win” partnership based on the exchange of expertise and experience.

This visit underscores the strong security partnership between Paris and Abidjan amid growing regional security challenges in West Africa.
