EU Reaffirms Strategic Partnership with Côte d’Ivoire with €1 Billion Support Plan

At the head of a strong European Union delegation, the Deputy Director-General of the Directorate-General for International Partnerships (INTPA) of the European Commission, Myriam Ferran, expressed her institution’s commitment to strengthening its partnership with Côte d’Ivoire. This was at the end of a working session held on Monday, March 30, 2026, in Abidjan, under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Robert Beugré Mambé.

“We discussed the strength of the partnership between the European Union and Côte d’Ivoire, and explored possible additional interventions and investments within the framework of this partnership, which we consider strategic,” said Deputy Director-General Myriam Ferran.

The discussions notably focused on the European Union–West Africa regional forum on transport and transport corridors currently taking place in Abidjan, as well as key sectors such as agriculture, employment, and migration.

“We also discussed support amounting to one billion euros currently allocated to strategic sectors such as cocoa and cashew nuts. Regarding job creation in support of the private sector, we aim to encourage investments from the European private sector in partnership with the Ivorian private sector,” she added.

The Deputy Director-General also addressed the issue of stabilization and support for populations in the northern part of the country, in order to strengthen Côte d’Ivoire’s stabilizing role in the region. In this regard, the country will benefit from “special support from the European Union,” she stated.

She also took the opportunity to commend the Ivorian government for its management of migration and the reintegration of refugees within the national territory.

Both parties will meet again formally on April 16 as part of this strategic partnership between the European Union and Côte d’Ivoire.

Alongside the Prime Minister, several members of the government attended the meeting with the European Union delegation.
