FAO Supports Retirement Insurance Plan for Ivorian Farmers

At the 34th Regional Conference of the FAO in Nouakchott, the Ivorian delegation led by Bruno Nabagné Koné advocated for better living conditions for farmers, identified as the seventh pillar of the roadmap of the Ministry of Agriculture, Rural Development and Food Crops.

During a meeting with Qu Dongyu, the delegation discussed two main priorities: social protection for farmers and stronger support from the FAO for sustainable agriculture.

Bruno Nabagné Koné presented the FAO project portfolio in Côte d’Ivoire, praising the quality of its implementation while calling for greater support for new agricultural development projects.

Meanwhile, the Minister of Employment, Social Protection and Vocational Training proposed organizing a donor roundtable to secure funding for a retirement insurance scheme for Ivorian farmers.

Welcoming these initiatives, Qu Dongyu expressed full support, emphasizing that no agricultural sector can develop sustainably without taking into account its social and human dimensions.
