Fireworks: The City of Abidjan Enchanted by a Magical Pyromusical Show in the Colors of the Elephant

The sky over Abidjan was lit up with a thousand lights on the night of Wednesday, December 31, 2025, for the traditional magical pyromusical show in the colors of the Elephant, marking the New Year’s Eve celebrations, in the presence of Prime Minister Robert Beugré Mambé.

Organized by the Autonomous District of Abidjan, this grand celebration offered the public a moment of unprecedented wonder, dominated by spectacular illuminated tableaux depicting marching elephants — a strong symbol of Côte d’Ivoire and an emblem of the nation.

The Abidjan sky was transformed into a living fresco. Multicolored bursts of light drew majestic elephant silhouettes that seemed to march forward with confidence, symbolizing the strength, stability, and determined progress of the country toward a promising future.

These pyrotechnic figures, carefully choreographed, drew admiration and excitement from the large crowd, captivated by the magical and highly symbolic display.

The Minister-Governor of the Autonomous District of Abidjan, Mr. Cissé Ibrahima Bacongo, emphasized that these fireworks were not just entertainment but carried a strong message of unity, national cohesion, and hope.

Through the image of the elephant, he explained, the whole of Côte d’Ivoire moves forward with determination and dignity along the path of peace, social cohesion, and development.

The Minister-Governor also praised the vigilance and professionalism of the Defense and Security Forces, mobilized to ensure the smooth running of the festivities, allowing the public to celebrate the arrival of the new year in a serene and safe environment.

Prime Minister Robert Beugré Mambé attended the magical pyromusical show.

The President of the Senate, Ms. Kandia Kamara, representing the First Lady of Côte d’Ivoire — the patron of the celebrations — recalled that after the city’s illuminations, which have adorned streets, bridges, and intersections since December 22, the public gathered to witness the climax of the festivities through the show titled:

“Magic on the Lagoon for Peace and Unity,” designed to touch hearts and welcome the new year with joy and hope.

She noted that this ceremony, marking the launch of the year-end celebrations nationwide, was held under the theme:

“Together for a Peaceful, Prosperous, and United Côte d’Ivoire.”
