To preserve peace and social cohesion ahead of Côte d’Ivoire’s upcoming presidential election, 25 citizen delegations have mobilized across the Haut-Sassandra region, located in the west-central part of the country.
The initiative, led by the Minister of Youth Promotion, Professional Integration, and Civic Service, Mamadou Touré, ran from September 19 to 21, 2025, and was part of a broader civic awareness campaign. These apolitical delegations, made up of figures from both politics and civil society, visited the departments of Daloa, Vavoua, and Issia.
Their mission: to call on communities to reject all forms of violence and foster a spirit of peaceful coexistence.
Delegation leaders emphasized that the region’s development progress is directly linked to maintaining peace and social harmony.
“Haut-Sassandra is receiving significant investment across various sectors. We cannot afford to jeopardize this momentum. Peace is all we ask. Let’s set an example for the entire nation,” they declared, presenting Haut-Sassandra as a model of stability and prosperity.
The exchanges also offered an opportunity to review key government projects implemented in the region — all made possible thanks to continued peace.
Residents warmly welcomed the initiative and pledged to uphold peace and stability, not just during the election, but before and after the vote as well.
