The Shelter Afrique Development Bank, dedicated to housing finance across the continent, is set to establish its presence in Abidjan.

The decree ratifying the agreement for the establishment of the bank was approved during the Council of Ministers held on Wednesday, April 1, 2026, at the Presidential Palace in Abidjan-Plateau, according to government spokesperson Amadou Coulibaly, who also serves as Minister of Communication.

“The ratification of the statutes of this pan-African bank dedicated to housing finance in Africa will enable our country to benefit, in particular, from significant financial support for the production of affordable housing in sufficient quantities,” Amadou Coulibaly explained.
