On the sidelines of the 80th United Nations General Assembly, Côte d’Ivoire’s Minister of Economy, Planning, and Development, Nialé Kaba, participated in a high-level breakfast dedicated to partnerships for eliminating maternal mortality in Africa.
The gathering brought together technical and financial partners, with the participation of UNFPA Deputy Executive Director, Diene Keita, and the President of the African Development Bank (AfDB), Sidi Ould Tah.
During the discussions, participants emphasized the urgent need to invest in resilient health systems, strengthen women’s and girls’ access to reproductive health services, and mobilize innovative financing to achieve the goal of eliminating preventable maternal mortality in Africa.
Speaking at the event, Nialé Kaba highlighted the progress made by Côte d’Ivoire in maternal and child health, while stressing the importance of sustaining and strengthening strategic partnerships with international institutions and donors.
“The fight against maternal mortality remains a national priority. Côte d’Ivoire’s efforts are part of a dynamic to protect mothers and children, while promoting inclusive and sustainable development. To succeed, we must combine our efforts with the constant support of our partners,” she stated.
This high-level meeting strengthened advocacy for coordinated actions to ensure that every woman in Africa can give birth in conditions of safety and dignity.
