National Education: The Ministry of National Education and Literacy((MENA) Strengthens the Capacities of Private School Stakeholders

The Ministry of National Education and Literacy (MENA) organized a training seminar for stakeholders from private schools, held from August 11 to 26, 2025. The closing ceremony took place on Tuesday, August 26, 2025, at the National Center for Scientific Equipment (CNMS) in Abidjan-Cocody.

The purpose of the seminar was to issue official authorizations to teach, to be an educator, or to manage a private institution to individuals who had been trained by the Ministry. This initiative aligns with the recommendations from the National Education and Literacy Conference (EGENA), particularly the National Program for the Improvement of Early Learning (PNAPAS).

Representing the Minister of National Education and Literacy, Professor Mariatou Koné, at the event, Technical Advisor Allou Marie Christ commended the smooth organization and execution of the training session.

"I would like to greet, thank, and congratulate you for your commitment and dedication throughout these two weeks of training, during which each of you—trainers, site managers, local administrators, medical teams, and trainees—gave your best," she stated.

According to her, the emergence of Côte d'Ivoire, as advocated by the President of the Republic, depends on a well-trained human capital. The Ministry is therefore committed to providing quality education and training to all citizens.

"At the end of this training session, we recorded a 94.78% attendance rate among participants," said Diarra Mariam Touré, Director of Private School Oversight (DEEP), highlighting the strong participation as evidence of the growing interest in such training among private school staff and the support of school founders.

“These two weeks of training have been truly rewarding,” added Nouredine Doukouré, Director of Pedagogy and Continuing Education, and key organizer of the program. Satisfaction rates reaching up to 97% are, in her view, a promising sign of the quality of Ivorian education.

Lia Séry Nestor, the delegate of the trainees, expressed gratitude on behalf of all participants to DEEP for the quality of the training. “We have been equipped, enlightened, and strengthened in our understanding of the strategic role we play in our schools,” he stated, noting that the training offered practical solutions to the real-world challenges they face daily.

At the end of the ceremony, the representative of the Minister symbolically presented certificates of completion to a few participants, followed by other MENA officials in attendance.

It is important to note that this training session, a flagship initiative of DEEP, is now in its 15th edition. From 2011 to 2024, a total of 52,976 stakeholders have been trained. For the 2025 session, 6,361 participants were registered—3,688 in Abidjan and 2,673 in the rest of the country.
