Several Ivorian nationals were repatriated from Niger on Monday, March 9. The operation was carried out jointly by the Ivorian government and the International Organization for Migration (IOM). It involved a voluntary repatriation of a group of 134 men, 13 women, and three children.
This is the third wave of Ivorian nationals repatriated since the beginning of the year. The returned migrants were welcomed at Félix Houphouët-Boigny International Airport by Dr. Gaoussou Karamoko, Director General of Ivorians Abroad, representing the Minister Delegate in charge of African Integration and Ivorians Abroad.
After arrival and the usual formalities, the 150 repatriated migrants were taken to the National Institute of Youth and Sports (INJS) in Marcory. They will be accommodated there temporarily, with medical and psychological support. The next step will be to include them in socio-economic reintegration programs. For now, sources indicate that they have received financial assistance.
According to information received, further repatriation waves are planned. Thanks to a mechanism set up by the authorities, several Ivorian nationals (around 400) have been identified in Niger. Most of them lack identity documents or hold irregular papers. In February 2026, 294 Ivorian migrants were repatriated from Niger and Tunisia.
