Opening of the National Assembly’s First Ordinary Session: 24 Bills on the Agenda

The National Assembly opened its first ordinary session of the year, under the leadership of Patrick Achi, recently elected as the head of the institution.

In his opening speech, Patrick Achi presented the parliamentary work planned for 2026. “This first ordinary session opens with 24 bills on the agenda,” he stated.

Among these texts, the President of the National Assembly specified that they include six ordinary bills, thirteen bills amending ordinances, and five bills authorizing the ratification of international agreements.

These texts will cover various areas such as taxation, healthcare, social protection, human rights, and regional economic integration. Notably, the projects include:

  • A text on medical biology, aimed at adapting the practice of this profession to the requirements of the hospital reform.

  • The ratification of an ordinance on tariff dismantling within the framework of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), considered a decisive step for the continent’s economic integration.

This session marks the start of the legislative work for the year, with an agenda intended to address the socio-economic and regulatory needs of Côte d’Ivoire.
