The Minister of National Education, Literacy and Technical Education, N'Guessan Koffi, officially launched the School Theatre Program on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, at the Palais de la Culture of Abidjan-Treichville, through the presentation of the play “The School of Virtues”.
The initiative will introduce an inter-school theatre competition starting from the next academic year, with the best school winning a theatre trophy.
The minister explained that the program aims to promote moral, civic, and educational values, stressing that school should form not only intellectuals but also responsible and engaged citizens. He highlighted theatre as an effective educational tool that raises awareness, educates, and transforms behavior.
Addressing students, he reminded them that education is a powerful tool against poverty, ignorance, and exclusion, and encouraged them to develop discipline, creativity, and self-confidence while rejecting violence, cheating, and bad influences.
The play was performed by a theatre troupe directed by the renowned Ivorian actor and stage director Diallo Ticouaï Vincent.
