With just one month to go before Côte d’Ivoire’s presidential election scheduled for October 25, 2025, the Armed Forces of Côte d’Ivoire (FACI) are stepping up preparations to ensure a peaceful and secure vote. In this context, the General Staff of the Armed Forces has announced the launch of a large-scale simulation exercise, taking place from Monday, September 22 to Friday, September 26, 2025, in the Autonomous District of Yamoussoukro.
This operation, conducted by the Defense and Security Forces, aims primarily to strengthen coherence and operational coordination among the different units that will be deployed on election day. According to a statement signed by General of the Army Corps Lassina Doumbia, Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces, the exercise will mobilize significant ground resources and include both daytime and nighttime troop and vehicle movements across the political capital.
The army has indicated that these maneuvers could cause noise disturbances and inconvenience for local residents. Aware of the impact such activities may have on daily life, the military institution has extended its apologies to the inhabitants of Yamoussoukro, while assuring them that measures have been taken to allow them to go about their normal activities throughout the period.
Beyond the technical aspect, this simulation reflects the Ivorian authorities’ determination to anticipate the security challenges of a major electoral event. The October 2025 presidential election represents a crucial milestone for the country’s democratic stability. By conducting this large-scale exercise, the Armed Forces intend to fully play their role as guarantors of citizen safety and the smooth conduct of the electoral process.
By placing the security of the population at the center of their priorities, the Armed Forces of Côte d’Ivoire reaffirm their commitment to supporting the nation at this decisive moment in its political history.
