Technical and Vocational Education: Distance Learning Officially Established

Distance learning is now officially established in technical and vocational education and training, announced the Minister of Communication and Government Spokesperson, Amadou Coulibaly, following the Council of Ministers on Wednesday, December 3, 2025, at the Presidential Palace in Abidjan-Plateau.

According to him, the decree adopted by the Council of Ministers institutes and regulates the implementation of distance learning systems in the technical and vocational education sector. This aims to overcome geographic, professional, and social barriers that limit access to technical and vocational training, while meeting the growing demand for skills and flexibility in professional environments.

“The decree sets out the principles, conditions for implementation, accreditation procedures, pedagogical requirements, technological standards, and governance and monitoring mechanisms for distance learning in technical and vocational education. This ensures the quality of training, data security, equitable access, and recognition of certifications,” he emphasized.

The decree also provides for the use of innovative technological tools, such as artificial intelligence, sovereign platforms, and open educational resources, for certification purposes.
