On Tuesday, February 17, 2026, a delegation from UNESCO Abidjan, led by Mr. Omar Diop, Head of the UNESCO Office, met with the Minister of Culture and Francophonie, Madame Françoise Remarck, accompanied by several of her collaborators, at her office in Tower B, Plateau, to discuss strengthening the existing cooperation between the Ministry and UNESCO.
The discussions focused on several topics, including the organization of the General Assembly of Culture, the creation of the Slave Trade Museum in Grand-Lahou, the establishment of the City of Innovation and Culture, and the repatriation process of the Djidji Ayokwé.
After the welcome exchanges, the Minister expressed her desire to finalize all ratifications of UNESCO-related agreements, which would position Côte d’Ivoire as a model in this area. She also emphasized the need to hold working sessions to develop action plans that will have a lasting impact on communities, particularly women and youth.
