UNESCO Côte d’Ivoire, alongside the Ministry of Animal and Fisheries Resources of Côte d’Ivoire, participated in the official launch ceremony of the Competitive Value Chains Development Project for Sustainable Aquaculture and Fisheries (ProDeCAP). The event took place from March 25 to 27, 2026, in the coastal city of San Pedro.
This strategic project aims to increase the contribution of the fisheries and aquaculture sectors to local and national economies, while also improving food and nutrition security. Through this initiative, Ivorian authorities seek to boost high-potential value chains capable of generating employment and added value.
In this context, the Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission (IOC) of UNESCO will play a key role in the implementation of the project. Its expertise is expected to support the sustainable management of marine resources and promote innovative, environmentally friendly practices.
The launch of ProDeCAP therefore marks a significant step forward in Côte d’Ivoire’s strategy to develop a sustainable and resilient fisheries sector, with the support of committed technical and institutional partners.
