Professor Adama Diawara, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, officially launched the 2024-2025 academic year on Monday, September 23, 2024, at the Université Péléforo Gon Coulibaly (UPGC) in Korhogo.
This academic year, themed "Quality Higher Education and Scientific Research in Service of the Socio-Economic Development of Regions," marks the end of irregular school year starts.
The Minister reviewed the past academic year and outlined the prospects for the coming year. Special guest, Minister of Transport Amadou Koné, who is also President of the Union of Cities and Municipalities of Côte d'Ivoire (UVICOCI), delivered a keynote address on "The Role of Universities in Regional Development." He highlighted the impact universities have on local economies in various ways.
"We must strengthen the link between our universities and our communities," urged Professor Aoua Sougo Coulibaly, President of UPGC. She expressed her institution's commitment to playing a key role in the development of the Poro region.
The academic calendar is structured as follows: the first semester runs from September 23, 2024, to February 22, 2025, and the second semester from February 24 to July 6, 2025. The second session exams will take place from July 14 to 31, 2025.
