Visit to ANADER: Minister Bruno Nabagné Koné Shares His Vision of a Modern and Competitive Agriculture

On March 11, 2026, Bruno Nabagné Koné, Minister of Agriculture, Rural Development and Food Crop Production, visited the headquarters of the Agence Nationale d'Appui au Développement Rural. During the visit, he shared with the institution’s leadership and staff his vision of a modern and competitive agricultural sector.

“Our ambition is to ensure that agriculture continues to be the central driver of the economy,” said the minister, noting that the agricultural sector, a pillar of the Ivorian economy, accounts for more than 25% of GDP and employs over 60% of the active population.

According to Bruno Nabagné Koné, for Ivorian agriculture to become more dynamic, it must focus on achieving food sovereignty and food security, while also improving the living conditions of farmers.

However, the minister emphasized the need to transform agricultural products, improve farmers’ working conditions through mechanization, digitalization, and better water management, and adapt to climate change in order to promote more sustainable agriculture.

He also praised the crucial role played by ANADER in rural communities, particularly its close support and guidance for farmers.

For his part, the Director General of ANADER, Sidiki Cissé, highlighted the challenges involved in transforming rural areas. He also presented the Strategic Development Plan (SDP) 2026–2030, worth 167.42 billion FCFA. The plan includes 51 major projects aimed at strengthening agricultural productivity, modernizing farms, and improving the resilience of rural populations.

Created in 1993, ANADER’s mission is to improve living conditions in rural areas by professionalizing farmers and agricultural organizations through appropriate tools, approaches, and programs that support sustainable and well-managed development.
