WIPO pledges stronger support for Côte d’Ivoire’s innovation and intellectual property development

The Director General of the World Intellectual Property Organization (World Intellectual Property Organization), Daren Tang, has reaffirmed his institution’s commitment to further support Côte d’Ivoire in the valorization of its cultural, agricultural, artisanal, and technological assets. This statement came at the end of an audience granted to him by Prime Minister Dr Beugré Mambé.

During the discussions, the Head of Government expressed Côte d’Ivoire’s desire to strengthen its engagement with the African Intellectual Property Organization (OAPI), particularly in the industrial, agricultural, intellectual, and artistic sectors. He also called for increased support for innovation, agribusiness, and technology transfer in favor of young inventors.

“We dream of a Côte d’Ivoire that is not only a country of primary agricultural products, but one that uses intellectual property for its development, and the World Intellectual Property Organization is here to support all these initiatives in Côte d’Ivoire,” said Daren Tang.

The meeting took place on the sidelines of the Conference of Heads of Intellectual Property Offices of the OAPI region (HIPOC), held on June 4–5, 2026 in Abidjan.
