Rural Electrification: The Village of Zienkoloplé (Korhogo) Powered Off-Grid

The village of Zienkoloplé, located in the Korhogo department, was connected to an off-grid electricity system on December 11, 2024. The electrification was made possible through a partnership between the Ivorian government and a Chinese company specializing in off-grid energy solutions.

The installed system includes 40 photovoltaic panels, a storage capacity of 97 kWh, 17 poles for energy distribution, and 33 connections for households, helping to meet the essential energy needs of the community.

During the inauguration ceremony, Minister Mamadou Sangafowa Coulibaly praised this advancement, emphasizing the importance of energy for the socio-economic development of rural areas. "The electrification of Zienkoloplé is a testament to our commitment to reducing the energy gap in Côte d'Ivoire and promoting access to reliable and sustainable energy for all," he stated.

Su Chang, the CEO of Huawei in Côte d'Ivoire, a technical partner of the project, affirmed: "This project illustrates the strength of Sino-Ivorian cooperation and our commitment to sustainable energy solutions. Huawei is proud to contribute to improving the living conditions of rural populations through innovative and environmentally friendly technologies."

The residents of Zienkoloplé, through their village chief, expressed their joy and gratitude. "Electricity is a blessing for us. It will allow us to improve our economic activities, provide better educational opportunities for our children, and ensure healthcare in better conditions," he emphasized.
