25 Years of FER: Thomas Camara Calls for National Mobilization for Sustainable Roads

On the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the Road Maintenance Fund, its Chairman of the Board of Directors, Thomas Camara, delivered a solemn address on Sunday, April 19, 2026, to stakeholders in the road sector, technical and financial partners, and road users across the country.

In a speech marked by both assessment and forward-looking perspectives, the PCA revisited the institution’s journey since its creation. He highlighted the progress made over the years while recalling the founding vision of the Road Maintenance Fund (FER): to make road maintenance a strategic pillar of Côte d’Ivoire’s development and emergence.

Through his remarks, past, present, and future were intertwined to illustrate the evolution of an institution that has become a key player in the management of road infrastructure.

Beyond the celebration, Thomas Camara issued a strong call for collective responsibility. He stressed the need for all stakeholders—institutions, partners, and citizens alike—to become more involved in preserving the national road network. “The maintenance and protection of our roads is everyone’s responsibility,” he emphasized, noting that these infrastructures are not only tools for economic development but also a source of national pride.

Aligned with the government’s major infrastructure modernization programme, the Road Maintenance Fund aims to strengthen its central role. The institution positions itself as a key link in financing a sustainable, safe, and efficient road network capable of supporting economic growth and improving mobility for the population.

This silver jubilee therefore represents a pivotal milestone for FER, which is called upon to meet new challenges in a context of accelerated development.

After 25 years of service to roads and users, FER reaffirms its ambition: to sustainably support the transformation of Côte d’Ivoire’s road network and significantly contribute to the country’s continued growth.
