Agricultural Sector Development: Minister Bernard Kini Comoé Launches Strategic Planning for Agronomic Research (2026–2035)

The Minister Delegate for Food Crop Production, Bernard Kini Comoé, officially launched on March 23, 2026, in Yamoussoukro, a workshop aimed at formulating and validating the National Agronomic Research Strategic Plan for 2026–2035.

He emphasized the strategic importance of this initiative for the future of the agricultural sector, stating that agronomic research is a key investment in national sovereignty. According to him, the plan should serve as the scientific foundation for building a more productive, resilient, and competitive agricultural system in Côte d’Ivoire.

The minister highlighted that agronomic research underpins the entire agricultural value chain—from seed selection to market access—and called on all stakeholders to contribute their expertise to ensure the plan is practical and aligned with future challenges.

Once validated, the strategic plan will guide the scientific activities of the CNRA, support funding mobilization, and strengthen both national and international partnerships.

Presented by the CNRA and supported by the FIRCA, the plan addresses major challenges facing the sector, including climate change adaptation, improving crop productivity, enhancing food safety, promoting local genetic resources, and accelerating the transfer of innovations to farmers.

The validation workshop brings together a wide range of stakeholders, including government institutions, universities, researchers, financial partners, private sector actors, and producer organizations, ensuring broad ownership and effective implementation starting in 2026.
