Côte d’Ivoire and United States seek to deepen economic partnership

Côte d’Ivoire and the United States have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral ties, with a focus on investment and economic cooperation, during a meeting in New York on Monday.

Ivorian Minister of State for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Nialé Kaba met with Franck Garcia, U.S. Under Secretary of State for African Affairs, on the sidelines of the Côte d’Ivoire Business and Investment Forum. The meeting was held at the Westin Hotel Times Square in the presence of Ivorian Planning and Development Minister Souleymane Diarrassouba and other Ivorian and U.S. officials.

Kaba highlighted the strong relationship between the two countries and called for closer economic cooperation, particularly in agribusiness, energy, infrastructure, digital technology, healthcare and training.

She also welcomed growing interest from U.S. companies in Côte d’Ivoire and encouraged the development of concrete partnerships aimed at attracting investment, creating jobs and strengthening skills.

The meeting comes as Côte d’Ivoire seeks to expand its international economic partnerships and attract more foreign investment across key sectors of its economy.

Côte d’Ivoire is also scheduled to host the next U.S.-Africa Business Summit in 2027. Ivorian authorities see the event as an opportunity to further strengthen trade and investment ties between U.S. and African businesses.
