Following an extraordinary session of the Board of Directors of the Autonomous Port of Abidjan (PAA) held on Monday, May 4, 2026, Mr. Kassoum TRAORÉ has been appointed Acting Director General of the institution.
Following this decision, a Management Committee meeting was convened during which Mr. Hilaire LAMIZANA, Chairman of the Board of Directors, officially introduced the new Acting Director General on behalf of the Board.
On this occasion, he highlighted the key challenges facing the Port of Abidjan, particularly in terms of operational performance and competitiveness. He also reaffirmed the Board’s full commitment to supporting the General Management in achieving its strategic objectives.
In his remarks, Mr. Kassoum TRAORÉ expressed his gratitude to the Board for the confidence placed in him. He paid tribute to Mr. Hien Yacouba SIÉ, Minister of Infrastructure and Road Maintenance and former Managing Director of the PAA, whose leadership helped position the Port of Abidjan as a key player on the West African coastline. He stated his intention to build on this momentum by continuing efforts to modernize and strengthen the port’s competitiveness.
The Acting Director General also emphasized the importance of collective work and synergy within the Management Committee. He called on all departmental directors to fully mobilize their skills, commitment, and sense of responsibility in order to consolidate achievements and further enhance the port’s performance. He stressed that the institution’s long-term interest and sustainable development must remain at the core of all actions.
On behalf of the Management Committee members, Mr. Chérif TIEMOKO extended congratulations to the Acting Director General. He reaffirmed the full support and solidarity of all members, welcoming the strategic decision to appoint an internal candidate to lead the institution. He also assured their collective commitment, based on loyalty, availability, and a strong sense of duty, to effectively support the implementation of this mission in light of the major challenges facing the Port of Abidjan.
