Thirty-six young girls from the Marahoué region, winners of the 2025 edition of the Miss Mathematics contest, were celebrated on Saturday, April 5, during a ceremony held at the Bouaflé Prefecture Conference Hall.

The event was chaired by the President of the High Authority for Good Governance (HABG), Zoro Bi Ballo Épiphane, in the presence of the President of the Ivorian Mathematical Society (SMCI), Professor Saliou Touré, along with several notable figures from the education and administrative sectors.

The laureates, ranging from 6th grade to the final year of high school, received medals, honorary diplomas, school kits, cash prizes, laptops, and tablets. These awards were generously provided by President Zoro Épiphane, the SMCI, and the African Soft Drink and Refreshments Company (SOLIBRA).

Professor Touré highlighted the objective of the competition: to inspire scientific vocations among young girls so they can actively contribute to technological progress and national development.

“The future belongs to science and technology. It is therefore crucial that our girls get involved to help build the Côte d’Ivoire of tomorrow,” he stated, encouraging the laureates to become role models in their communities.

For his part, President Zoro Épiphane praised the excellence of the winners and expressed his deep commitment to promoting mathematics, sharing a personal anecdote:

“I was terrible at math. My involvement in this contest is a form of redemption for me, but also a firm belief—math is everywhere in our daily lives,” he admitted.

The ceremony also featured a conference led by Professor Saliou Touré on the theme “Mathematics in Everyday Life”, and included honors presented to Zoro Épiphane, the regional directors of education in Bouaflé and Sinfra, and other dedicated contributors.

This memorable event helped to highlight the value of science among young girls in the Marahoué region and reaffirmed the vital role mathematics plays in shaping Côte d’Ivoire’s future.
