Named ECOWAS Region Man of the Year 2025 by the Foundation of NGOs of the ECOWAS Region (FORCE) and the Forum of NGOs of the Council of the Entente (FONCE), Téné Birahima Ouattara is a leading political and security figure in Côte d’Ivoire.
He currently serves as Vice Prime Minister and Minister of Defense, a position in which he has played a central role in strengthening national security, modernizing the armed forces, and enhancing regional security cooperation in West Africa.
Born in 1955 in Kong, northern Côte d’Ivoire, Téné Birahima Ouattara has held several strategic responsibilities within the Ivorian administration before taking charge of the Defense Ministry. He is widely recognized for his close involvement in defense reforms and efforts to stabilize the country following years of political and military crises.
