This week, we honor an exceptional individual who embodies passion, perseverance, and authenticity: Zeinab Bancé, an Ivorian chef recently elevated to the rank of knight of the National Order of Côte d'Ivoire. Her culinary feat, a 131-hour and 30-minute cooking marathon, brought her close to breaking the Guinness World Record for the longest cooking marathon. This remarkable achievement also earned her the prestigious distinction, highlighting her vital role as an ambassador for Ivorian cuisine.
During the tribute ceremony, the Minister of Tourism and Leisure, Siandou Fofana, expressed immense pride, acknowledging Zeinab's crucial role in promoting Ivorian gastronomic culture. He also highlighted the impact of her accomplishment, which brought Côte d'Ivoire into the international spotlight. Through her culinary marathon, Zeinab not only delighted hundreds of people but also donated meals to disadvantaged communities, making a significant social and humanitarian contribution.
Her efforts revealed much more than a simple culinary feat: they represent a true contribution to strengthening social bonds and highlighting Ivorian cultural heritage. This distinction recognizes gastronomy as a tool for building connections, a powerful way to unite people and create a shared sense of belonging.
Zeinab Bancé has become a role model of determination and commitment for an entire nation, an ambassador for Ivorian cuisine, and an inspiration for those who, through their work, help bring their culture's richness to the forefront.
