Côte d’Ivoire 2025 Legislative Elections: Candidate Submissions Open from October 31 to November 12

Côte d’Ivoire is moving forward with the renewal of its National Assembly. The Independent Electoral Commission (CEI) has officially announced that applications for the December 27, 2025 legislative elections will be accepted from October 31 to November 12, 2025, in accordance with Articles 70 to 80 of the Electoral Code.

This announcement marks the official launch of the legislative electoral process, following Decree No. 2025-656 of July 30, 2025, signed by the President of the Republic convening the electoral colleges.

According to the CEI, any citizen wishing to run for a seat in Parliament must be at least 25 years old, hold Ivorian nationality by birth or through naturalization for at least ten years, and be registered on the electoral roll. The candidate must also have resided continuously in Côte d’Ivoire for the past five years, except in special cases such as diplomats, international civil servants, or political exiles.

In addition, candidates who have previously held local elective positions, such as regional council presidents, mayors, or municipal councillors, must not have been dismissed from office for misconduct, as this would render them ineligible. Each application must also include a financial deposit of 100,000 CFA francs.

By publishing these guidelines, the CEI reaffirms its commitment to ensuring a transparent, inclusive, and peaceful electoral process. It calls on political parties, independent candidates, and all citizens to respect the timeline and regulations in place in order to safeguard the credibility of the December 2025 vote.

These elections, which will determine the members of the National Assembly, represent a new step forward in strengthening democracy in Côte d’Ivoire.
