CAP Côte d’Ivoire GIGA Meeting in Yopougon

The Coalition for Peaceful Alternation in Côte d’Ivoire (CAP-CI) held a massive popular meeting this Friday at Ficgayo Square in the Yopougon district, gathering thousands of supporters and sympathizers from across the country. This event, one of the year’s largest, marks a significant milestone in the opposition’s mobilization ahead of the October 2025 presidential election.

Organized with official authorization from the Yopougon municipality, led by Adama Bictogo, the rally proceeded calmly and orderly thanks to close cooperation between the organizers and local authorities. Numerous opposition political figures were present, reaffirming their shared commitment to an inclusive and democratic Côte d’Ivoire.

At the heart of their demands, CAP-CI called for a complete revision of the electoral roll, a thorough audit of irregularities observed in previous elections, and the reinstatement of political leaders excluded from the presidential race, including Laurent Gbagbo, Charles Blé Goudé, Tidjane Thiam, and Guillaume Soro. The leaders stressed the need for sincere and inclusive political dialogue to ensure transparent, credible, and peaceful elections.

Lucie Gbakayoro, a local activist, said, “We are here to say that another Côte d’Ivoire is possible — one where every voice counts and electoral justice is respected.”

The event also highlighted the determination of Ivorians and friends of the country to mobilize massively to defend peace and democracy amid regional and national challenges.

CAP-CI thus confirms its position as a key player in the Ivorian political landscape, ready to play a central role in building a fairer and more inclusive future.
